Arch Tour

A fantastic way to see the Arch as well as the St. Louis metropolitan area. The tour takes around 1 hour and is most often flown clockwise to provide passengers the best view outside the right side of the aircraft. More details can be found here.

Lambert’s cafe

Located in Sikeston, MO Lambert’s Cafe serves up American food family style and is famous for their throwed rolls. The restaurant is located around a mile from the airport KSIK (a short 1 hour flight from Creve Coeur) and offers a shuttle to and from the restaurant (call when you land). Come hungry and leave a few extra pounds in the weight and balance for the return trip.

Jefferson City

Jefferson City is Missouri’s state capital. Jefferson City is an easy one hour flight following the Missouri River from Creve Coeur Airport. The flight in affords great views of the capital building on final approach. The airport is located just across the river from the city and the FBO is great. There is a courtesy car available. The field features a great restaurant next to the FBO that is elevated and offers views of both runways. Take the short drive into town and visit Central Dairy for great ice cream, visit a local restaurant for a meal or take a tour of the state capital building.

Lake of the Ozarks

Lake of the Ozarks is a short one hour flight to either of the two airports located on the northeast side of the lake. The two airports Osage Beach K15 and Lee C Fine Memorial (AIZ) offer fuel and limited services. Osage Beach is closer to the town of Osage Beach with some restaurants. Scenic flights over the lake are also popular particularly in fall with the changing leave colors.

Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon Illinois (KMVN) offers a destination to the east of the St. Louis metro area. The airport has a restaurant on the field, Bonnie Cafe, which is popular on the weekends. Bonnie Cafe has a breakfast buffet here as well as lunch and dinner buffets.  Regular menu too.  You can look them up on FB to see the daily specials.  they also have a frequent diners club for pilots, ask for a card and they stamp each time you come.  5th (or 6th) meal is free. The airport also make a great stopover on longer cross countries or for those looking to build cross country hours.

Carbondale

KMDH – Carbondale IL.   – They recently opened a St. Nick’s on the airport in the terminal (note this is the 3rd one of these in the area).  It’s quite nice and the food is good.   It’s a microbrewery as well and they sell growlers (full and 1/2)  if you want to take some of their beer to go.  Highly recommend.

Perryville

KPCD – Perryville MO.  – perryville also has a St. Nicks, but you have to take the courtesy car down the road to Chester this location overlooks the river.   Gas is much cheaper here so if you want to save some overall cost you can fill up here.

Sparta

KSAR – Sparta.   Tie down and walk a couple hundred yards across the road to either Lollies cafe or the Route4 restaurants.  The breakfast is recommended.

Litchfield

3LF – Litchfield IL.  take their courtesy car and go to Nancy’s Pizza (unlike in O’fallon this is a sit down Nancy’s) for real chicago style deep dish pizza.   Route 66 cafe and Jubelt’s bakers are also popular breakfast places here.

Matton

KMTO – Matton IL.  the Airport Steakhouse is on field.  their signature sandwich is the elephant ears pork tenderloin
